A Complete Backup Solution Get extra security and increase data portability by backing up your LaCie 5big Network 2—on your own schedule—to an external hard drive through its USB and eSATA ports using the built-in copy system. The 5big Network 2 also comes with three client licenses for Genie® Backup Manager Pro™ for Windows® and three licenses for Intego® Backup Manager Pro™ for Mac. This software can be installed on each PC or Mac for client backups to the NAS, and lets you reliably and efficiently back up your documents, emails, settings, or other digital assets. It supports compressed, encrypted, or image backups and implements a computer recovery function in case of a system failure. Access to administration page and shares is easy using LaCie Network Assistant; and, on top of that, it can provide its administrator notifications via email of events like backup, disk failure, high temperature, etc. RAID Protection Thanks to the secure RAID modes, including RAID 5 and RAID 6, the 5big Network 2 enables you to keep data access even if one disk fails. The hot-swappable disk trays*** even allow maintenance without affecting your workflow. "Spare" modes allow a second level of protection; a sort of "automatic maintenance" that will immediately start rebuilding the RAID protection in case of a disk failure.
